~  Evaluates District programs and advises the Board on recommendations for the educational advancement of schools and instructional programs, particularly regarding the curriculum goals established by the Board.

~  Recommends to the Board for its adoption all courses of study, curricula, and major changes in core and supplementary resources/materials to be used in the schools.

~  Studies and revises, together with the staff, all curricula and courses of study, on a continuing basis.

~  Is responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and reporting results of District-wide testing programs.

~  Stays informed of current educational thought and practices through advanced study and/or by attending educational conferences, and keeps the Board informed of trends in education through written reports or other appropriate means.


~  Coordinates all personnel activities.

~  Supervises the procurement and nomination for employment of the best qualified and most competent certificated and support personnel.

~  Assigns and transfers employees as the interest of the District may dictate, and reports such action to the Board for information and record.

~  Suspends any employee for just cause, and reports such suspension to the Board at the next Governing Board meeting thereafter for final action.

~  Recommends to the Board for final action the promotion, salary changes, demotion, or dismissal of any employee.

~  Communicates to all employees, all actions of the Board relating to personnel matters, and receives from employees all communications to be made to the Board.

~  Supervises methods of teaching, supervision, and administration in effect in the schools.

~  Participates in teacher observation and evaluation upon request by principals.

Public relations:

~  Represents the schools before the public, and maintains, through cooperative leadership, both internally and externally, such a program of publicity and public relations as may keep the public informed as to the activities, needs, and successes of the schools.

~  Establishes and maintains a program of public relations to keep the public well informed of the activities and needs of the District, effecting a wholesome and cooperative working relationship between the schools and the community.

~  Keeps the public informed about modern educational practices, educational trends, and the policies, practices, and problems in the District's schools.
